Getting started
Drop In Displays lets you run a content queue across multiple screens at a location. You manage everything from the admin panel in your browser: create a location, add a queue with segments (videos, images, callouts), then connect each screen by having it open the player URL and enter a 6-digit code. No software to install on the screens—they just need a browser (or a kiosk setup like Raspberry Pi).
Typical flow: sign up → create a location → add a queue and segments → get the 6-digit code for the screen → open the player on each display and enter the code. Changes you make in the admin panel sync to all screens in real time.
Signing up
Go to the admin panel and sign up with your email or a social provider (e.g. Google). Once you’re in, you can create your first location and queue. The free plan includes one location and one screen so you can try everything before upgrading.
Billing is handled through Clerk. To upgrade to Pro or Enterprise, use the upgrade option in the admin panel or on the Pricing page.

How the player works
Each screen runs the player—a full-screen app that plays your queue. The player URL is https://player.dropindisplays.com/YOUR_CODE. Replace YOUR_CODE with the 6-digit code shown in the admin for that screen (Locations → your location → Screens → code).
When a screen loads the player URL, it may prompt for the code if not in the URL. Once joined, the screen stays connected and plays the queue in sync with other screens at the same location. If you add or reorder segments, change videos, or push a callout, all connected screens update automatically.
You can run the player in any modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). For dedicated displays, use kiosk mode or a device like a Raspberry Pi—see Setup guides below.
Setting up features
Queues & segments — In the admin, open a location and add or edit a queue. Add segments: video (Vimeo/YouTube), image, countdown, or custom. Set order, duration, and template (e.g. full-screen video). Segments play in order and loop.
Callouts (Pro/Enterprise) — Timed messages that overlay all screens. Create a callout with text and optional expiration time. It appears on every screen at that location until it expires. Use for session reminders, breaks, or announcements.
Business ads (Pro/Enterprise) — Carousel-style ads with optional QR codes. Add images and links; they rotate in the queue or as overlays. Good for sponsors or promo content.
AI insights (Pro/Enterprise) — Analytics and insights in the admin to see how content and screens are performing.
Scheduling & timers — Configure when a queue or segment is active and how long each segment displays. Available on all plans.
Setup guides
Step-by-step guides for running the player on specific hardware or in kiosk mode:
- Raspberry Pi display setup— Run the player on a Raspberry Pi with Chromium in kiosk mode using a systemd service.
More guides (e.g. other Linux kiosks, Windows) may be added. The player itself is the same—only the way you launch the browser changes.
